I was born in Zeeland, Michigan as the first son of Piet and Julie Schoonveld (Leistra). I moved to Oregon with the family when I was 10. At 18, I moved to Redlands, California and went to school.

At the University of Redlands I studied and received degrees in Business Administration and History. After school I moved back to Oregon and have lived in Portland since soon after graduation.

I am buying and selling commodities for animal feed right now and have been for the past 4 & 1/2 years.

I am married to Maria Galan who I met at the University of Redlands and we have 1 child Peter Jon, born on May 13, 2001. We were married in Madrid, Spain on September 3, 1999. Maria works as a freight forwarder here in Portland.

My hobbies are golf, camping and remodeling our house.
