Schoonveld is a dutch name
meaning clean or beautiful field, Belcampo is the italian word for
a beautiful field. It was also the name of the family summer
residence on the Island of Ameland. The families probably chose
the name - it is a guess - because as farm labourers their main task was the
cleaning of fields (of weeds).
