In my youth I have lived in Groningen, Jamestown, Michigan and Zwolle. I went to grade school in those three places, I went to High School in Zwolle. I studied administrative law and planning at the State University in Groningen and received my mastersdegree in 1982. I worked for 4 years at the university, 7 years for the Province Overiisssel. Since 1991 I work for the city of Rotterdam, first at the Finance department and since 6 years for the Rotterdam City Development Corporation (City planning and economic development)

Apart from my job I am chairman of ROVER, the dutch public transport users association.

I am married to Willy de Mooij since 1982, we do not have any children.
